Faculty and Staff Emergency Closing Policy

Logan University’s policy on inclement weather conditions and campus emergency closings is as follows.  A number of notifications will announce if Logan is closed or on a snow schedule for the day. 

Closed:  Logan University will close its operations for the day. 

Snow Schedule:  Work hours will begin at 9:00 a.m. and classes will begin at 9:15 a.m.  (3rd Hour)

NOTIFICATIONS:
e2Campus:
Logan’s emergency notification system (e2Campus) is used to keep faculty, staff and students informed in the event of a campus emergency. It is also used to communicate weather-related-cancellations and delays to Logan’s normal operating schedule. To receive these messages, you must be registered at: https://www.e2campus.net/my/logan/index.htm.
Alerts are delivered via:
·             Cell Phone (as text messages)
·             Telephone
·             E-mail

Logan’s Website:
An announcement will be placed on the Logan Website.

Media Announcements:
Television:
·        KSDK Newschannel 5:  Beginning at 5:00 a.m. or www.ksdk.com
·        KTVI Fox 2:  Beginning at 5:00 a.m. or www.myfoxstl.com
Radio:
·        KMOX 1120 AM:  Beginning at 5:30 a.m.

IMPORTANT NOTES: 
Depending on the needs of the University, it may be necessary for some employees to report to work regardless of the closing.  The following departments are expected to report to work during inclement weather closings and snow schedules unless notified by their Supervisor/Department Head. 
·        Learning Resource Center
·        Health Center(s)
·        Physical Plant

When employees are required to work on a closed day, they will be paid as usual. 
Example:  An employee required to work 8 hours on the closed day will receive 8 hours of pay.  Additional compensation for working the 8 hours will not be granted.

If an employee is out for a planned or unplanned absence (vacation; birthday/float day; sick day; or sick leave) and Logan is closed due to weather or other extenuating circumstances, compensatory time will not be granted.
